![]() The Beatles’ 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show spearheaded the British Invasion, exposing millions to a revolutionary sound epitomized by first generation rock fans in “the Fab Four,” the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, and the Who, as well as similar-minded U.S.-bred bands such as the Byrds. But in a much more important sense, the ’60s were the second stage of growth after musical “seeds”-and the blockbuster equipment brands-dispersed around the world during the 1950s had begun sprouting into a variety of rock movements.
